Happy Easter, everyone.
I realize almost all of you reading this are celebrating today—most with Easter eggs and thoughts of Jesus, a few of you finishing up Passover. I hope among the thousands of readers here, there might be hundreds of different religions represented, but Grok thinks otherwise:
With about 10,000 readers, primarily from Utah and some from across the USA, scottsposts.com likely has between 6 and 9 distinct religions represented:
- LDS Church (1)
- Other Christian denominations (1)
- Other religions: 5–8 (e.g., Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Baha’i, Native American traditions, or another small group)
With Natalie and my three girls, we are starting a church. Just like we've started many companies, events, and communities, we now feel it’s time to create a religion.
This will be a distinct religion—but not a new one. In fact, it might be one of the earliest religions humans ever created. It's not ready to officially launch yet, but unlike a product, this faith doesn’t require customers or believers to exist. It simply is—the Sun.
This religion has no official name yet, but it does have a symbol—the Sun—and it already has a special day each week: today. The beautiful thing about the Sun? Not one of you can tell me it isn't real. I've spent my life searching for truth, wanting something inclusive and timeless to pass down through generations, something that unites rather than divides.
Many religions can divide families by asking people to believe the unbelievable. Everyone reading this has probably witnessed or experienced that kind of division firsthand with a brother or sister or child.
Here's where I arrived after days of meditation and recovery following my head injury: I'm going to build something everyone I meet can accept as truth. What I'm building is for me and my family. I'm not looking for donations or followers, but I will gladly share what I've learned about creating a religion.
One of the great privileges of living in the United States is religious freedom. Like Joseph Smith did 200 years ago, you can start a new religion that varies from popular existing beliefs. I live in Utah, a state historically known as an incubator for a radical new religion that had to flee westward to survive. This is the place…to start something new:)
I have countless stories about how the Sun has guided me to this point in my life. Over my 44 rotations around It, the Sun has shown me warmth, love, and clarity. In future writings, I'll share some of my journal entries about times when walking or sitting under the Sun spoke to my heart and gave me messages. Over the past three months, I've learned that the Sun has been revered as a feminine force by many ancient cultures worldwide over the last 10,000 years.
Our home will become a place of gratitude for the Giver of Light. Our walls will celebrate ancient Sun Goddesses and Gods. We'll practice rituals honoring the Sun, and our property is already energized by solar power. We'll share produce grown in our garden, nourished by the Sun.
You might cringe a little at my new religion—that's a common human reaction when something challenges your current worldview or faith. I've spent most of my life stuck in the idea that religion was an "either/or" proposition rather than an "and" opportunity. But I'm here to confess: I'm Mormon. I'm Christian. I'm Buddhist. I believe in stacking religions like books on a shelf, degrees earned, or hobbies explored. If allowed, I'd join every religion in the world.
For the next 50 years, this is my work. I'll help anyone who asks about forming their religion. It's easier than you might think—just one form filed with the State of Utah for $33. I'd gladly pay for everyone I know to start their own faith. Within the next three years, I'll organize a World Fair for Religions, bringing together thousands of people to share their unique beliefs.
Many of you know my enthusiasm for cryptocurrency and blockchain. With crypto, you have two options: custody your tokens in a private wallet or trust a custodian like Coinbase. The same applies to your actual currency—use a bank for convenience or keep it at home.
Faith works similarly. You can entrust your faith to a church someone else created or keep it in your own personal spiritual home. I'm choosing to hold most of my faith at home with my family, although I'll continue spreading some beliefs across various churches I've encountered.
As I have shared my thoughts on creating a religion with others, many do not like the use of the word, religion, because of religious trauma they have dealt with personally. This that is exactly why I choose to use the word. A religion can be a belief and have only one believer. The world has enough room for 8 billion unique religions. I want to live in a world where religions are ubiquitous and more like the songs we love vs. political parties we join.
Let's conclude today with gratitude for the story of Jesus. Unlike the Sun, which rose undeniably this morning, the historical reality of Jesus isn't known for certain—but the story brings peace and inspiration to many. Jesus will always be part of my family's story. I'll teach my kids about him so they can find peace in his message if it resonates. But whatever path they choose, they'll always have the Sun’s warmth and light until their final heartbeat.
What happens when we die? I’ve learned that if you live each day with gratitude and love—meditating under the Sun when possible—anxiety about death dissipates. My unconsciousness for three days and subsequent recovery taught me this truth.
If Jesus did rise roughly 2,000 years ago, that's AWESOME! Let's definitely thank him for that extra life hook-up. I can’t wait to hang out with Jesus, Natalie and my girls. I already picture him relaxing with us beside our pond. I imagine him enjoying a wooden pipe he carved himself and sipping his homemade wine (it’s in the Bible). I will bring with me the best leaf grown under the Sun. Snoop will be there too, and trust me, you'll all want to join. If not, just reply with a quick "unsubscribe," and I'll remove you from this epic guest list.
With warmth and gratitude of the this April 20th Easter Sunday at 4:20

Natalie painted this today with lots of thick oils. It’s the symbol of our personal religion:
As my perspective on religion has shifted from right v. wrong to truth — a hero's journey formula (the Plan of Salvation is still one of the coolest ways to think about human potential from a Christian lens) to plugging personal and communal potential into the scientific method — the concept of religion has become so appealing again. Why not gather in groups of people just to celebrate truth? Why not devote yourself to something bigger than yourself that only benefits you as much as you choose to invest in it? It's downright beautiful.
Absolutely perfect.
