The one on Apple TV.
I am a few episodes in, and it's obvious why it's winning awards. They cover some very challenging topics without pushing any agenda, of course, that is my opinion. It just feels very real, and the acting is sublime.
I empathize with journalists in a new way now that I am attempting to be a reporter at Scottspost’s 4:20 News. You only want to tell the truth. Embellishment or lies do no good for anyone, especially yourself. This Apple TV show is creating very interesting dynamics around integrity in reporting and even the integrity needed in running a network. I have to imagine they got things pretty close to how it would be to work at a big network in NYC.
In 2014-2015, I was a tech correspondent for KUTV, here in Utah. I would wake up very early and drive downtown with some gadget or app on my phone to talk about it with Holly Menino for 5 minutes. It was one of my favorite things I would do for the community. I loved seeing how the broadcast news was done behind the scenes. I even got to bring my girls on the show when they first got the Gizmo Pal wristwatch from Verizon and other fun apps like this one I found video footage
I even remember being into journalism way back to my year spent attending Utah State in 2003, right after I married Natalie. They had the school newspaper called the Statesman, and I figured out quickly, as a starving student, that I could review local restaurants and tech products and people would give me free stuff for distribution.
I don't really get free stuff from writing these days, and I've never been paid. Today, my writing is for me, so I can train my AI on who I am by feeding it all the emails I send you guys. You all can choose to be part of this experiment or not by quickly unsubscribing, but the truth is, I may one day disappear from this earth, but ScottBot will continue emailing you every day at 4:20 indefinitely.
With all the love
SP
