Today My Love Turns 40 and Our Love Turns 19
The end of June is always packed with celebrations for us.
Natalie and I have found the most joy in spending the week mountain biking. We do the electric stuff so that we can go farther and take the pain out of it. At 40, I feel like any pain removal from outdoor activities is totally fine.
Our bike rides last 3-5 hours and they are very intense in retrospect.
We get into a flow of music and peddling where the whole world outside of the single track disappears. I focus most of my brain power on my body and eyes to make sure I don’t go upside down. I marvel at how the light falls between aspens and pine trees. I have pretty constant “WTF” moments of awe towards the life I get to live and the time I get to spend with Natalie.
I have tried to minimize phone usage during this anniversary week so we can find time to talk endlessly about nothing and everything at all. I realize how much we have in common after 19 years of ups and downs. We have so much baggage we take into our marriage from our childhood and I feel like it takes 20 years to finally become a new person with your partner, one that is forged from your time together. The Scott she married was not the one roaming around aimlessly today. The one she has now is just unwrapped and honest.
We talked this week about staying married and if we should do another 19 years. I kind of like the annual review and see if we should keep going or change the subscription service agreement. I love her. She knows it. She loves me. I know it. Let’s keep going for sure, right?
What’s an email from Scottoshi without a little crypto chat?
It’s been a rough YTD. Started a Defi Fund and that didn’t even last a year. Nobody made any mistakes, but the market said “NOPE”. I have watched a zero fall off my net worth and that hurt.
None of this phases me because I am taking action to fix crypto. Giddy will change how easy it is to engage with defi and crypto and has the goal to create investors and not gamblers. Too much crypto is being manipulated by gambling but soon it will be the rails in how we do payments and finance.
The second way I am taking action is to help create a bitcoin proof of stake network. This will help bitcoin and upgrade the path. It will make bitcoin even more stable. But this is the hardest task one can try to bite off. So we are meeting the smartest innovators of our time to get help and see if the math can be solved. I have several intros to Steve Wozniak so that should come through.
We will be talking to several blockchain and cryptography brains this next month to edit our white paper. Let me know if you want a peek.
I’m leaving Utah for most of July to drive around California and do tourist stuff with my girls and just chill on the beach and listen to Lana Del Rey, so tell me if you have any good plans and if we should hang out at any time.
Also, why is everything out all over and people not working? I asked my LinkedIn audience this question today to get an answer.
And last but not least, I think AI might own my new barn. Kirk asked for permission to offer it to her and I said yes with no hesitation. You can read the Medium article here.
