Here is Garrett Clark, he likes to find the ducks on the ponds behind my property. I want to join him next time he goes back there. My only exposure to duck hunting is the original video game on Nintendo. I am sure most of us tried that game in the 80s if you were around for it. You could shoot a gun at the TV and it was quite accurate. I remember as a kid thinking it was magic technology. Even today I can’t perfectly explain how the Japanese figured out that awesome experience that worked so seamlessly. I have more problems today figuring out how to get a game to work on a TV screen and I’ve been in technology for 30 years. Back in the simpler days of early Nintendo, stuff just worked. Yes, you had to blow hard on the gold cartridge like a pro to get Zelda to start with that epic music, but it worked.
Garrett has come three times to get these ducks and it seems that it might be a lot harder than Nintendo, as I haven’t seen any ducks in his hands as he returns to his truck. Did Duck Hunter get my expectations too high for how many ducks people would be able to shoot in a minute?
Just days after Garrett was hunting ducks, I was cold plunging in Utah Lake and a hunter got a duck he couldn’t wade out into the water to get. Luckily, I was with a semi-superhuman, Ben Taylor, and he waded out to get this duck for the hunter.
I’ve never successfully hunted anything. I went with my father in law once and I prayed we would find any deer to kill so I would have to carve up a warm animal with a knife. I sometimes regret I was not more primal in my life. One day I will kill animals, I’m sure of it. I just want to be very ceremonious about it.

I grew up hunting, and as soon as I finished my Huntet's Safety course at 12, I took my first rabbits, and at 16 took my first deer. I never caught onto the bird hunting thing until about 15 years ago when I joined Wasatch Wing and Clay. Pheasant was the deal, and I fell all-in. I love Pheasant hunting, but I've not Transitioned to waterfowl... Im going to have to expand my horizons a bit this year!
Let’s go!!!!!
