We have two birthdays this month 7 days apart. 18 and 9 so half the age exactly.
Here is a photo we took 4 hours ago exactly 18 years since Angeline was born. 12:04 March 29 2006 she came out while I had Jack Johnson playing on the laptop in the hospital room.
She requested a Raising Canes chicken for all her friends to eat and gathered them together on her own. She was born to a song, named after a song, and has never stopped singing and dancing since she took breath.
I have tried hard to have the mindset that would best serve her for this moment. I have practiced zero fear and zero judgement as she has gone through the regular teenager events. I can say with 98% confidence that I don’t have any anxiety for her future. Whatever she does is what she is going to do and she knows I will support her.
She has tried to scare me to see how I will react by telling me she is going to become a hot mess and do Only Fans. I then respond by telling her how I can introduce her to the people who will help her succeed if she chooses that path. This la ze faire style of parenting is definitely harder than telling kids what they should and shouldn’t do.
The thing that makes me most proud as a father is that she wants to work for me. She loves what I do and loves my coworkers and wants to figure out she can add value to the organization. She really believes in our mission and how we believe AI is going to be used for good. I don’t want her to ever leave the house and built her a barn where she can raise her family if she wants. At the same time she knows she is free to travel the world with our support tomorrow if she needs.
Go do something crazy kid.
Happy 4:20 to all

You're a good dad. And now I know where to get my financial backing for my OF if SimpliCourt falls through. 😁
